about Leaving Caffeine

let's do this together

Hi, I’m Tim…

the sole brewmaster behind Leaving Caffeine.

Welcome to this unique corner of the internet where we explore the intricate relationship we all have with coffee and caffeine.

Just like you, my affair with caffeine has been a roller coaster of ups and downs.

How it All Started

I’ve never been a fan of tea, so coffee naturally became my go-to hot drink. It all began with just one cup every morning—a simple habit that seemed harmless enough.

But soon, one cup wasn’t cutting it anymore. I found myself brewing a second cup before noon, and sometimes even contemplating a third.

As my coffee intake climbed, I started noticing a change. Sleepless nights crept in, a lingering sense of anxiety became more frequent, and I found myself jittery more often than not.

Quitting Caffeine

In 2017, I hit a turning point—I waved goodbye to coffee, going full-on cold turkey. No half-measures, no decaf, just an abrupt caffeine detox.

Then came the aftermath. Headaches pounded like a drum, fatigue draped over me like a wet blanket, and a restless sort of gloom settled in. I even found myself wrestling with bouts of depression.

Whoa, right?

I was floored. I never realized just how tightly caffeine had its grip on me until I tried to break free.

Enduring three grueling weeks of withdrawal, I finally emerged on the other side. But guess what? It was totally worth it. I slept like a baby, my mind was clear as a bell, and my energy levels? Sky-high from dawn till dusk.

That’s when it clicked. I wanted to pull back the curtain on our caffeine dependencies and offer a helping hand to others stuck in the same cycle. Thus, Leaving Caffeine took its first caffeinated—er, decaffeinated—steps into the world.
